K9115 Quinta

Currently owned by Edward Willis, who kindly provided the following pictures and history of the boat.

Quinta

We have owned the boat since 2004, and I believe we are the 3rd owners, we have never raced the boat, and I believe the previous owners did not race her either, although I believe the original owners had some very satisfactory racing results in her early days. We have made many modifications and improvements to update the boat which all help to improve the comfort of cruising, but none of which would really have any dramatic effect on her racing ability. The boat is currently based in Salcombe, South Devon and I believe previously based in Poole and Lymington prior. We have generally cruised the South Coast of Devon and Cornwall and also many trips across to the Channel Islands. Judging from the Charts that came with the boat, it would seem that the previous owners generally sailed her within the English Channel and Crossings to North Coast of France. We have found the boat to be extremely seaworthy and handles and performs very well. Contrary to some of the myths about the unreliability of the original Watermota SeaPanther Engine, we have found the engine to be extremely reliable, starts first turn of the key everytime and no oil leaks. We have added many electronics and Navigation equipment to the boat and as such have added a 3rd Battery so now have 3 x 115AH all kept continuously topped up by a wind generator and charger unit. Autohelm and Furling Genoa have also been added and all help to improve the ease of sailing with a shorthanded crew. We have found the boat to be extremely quick and generally overtake most other sailing boats we come across, on a recent trip back from St Peter Port to Salcombe we made the passage in under 10 hrs averaging about 7Knots.
